The good news is Washington, D.C., is entirely shut down (pLopLop #7)

"The big blizzard hit the East Coast. Washington, D.C., probably hit hardest of all. Two storms, back-to-back. The bad news is Washington, D.C., is entirely shut down. The good news is Washington, D.C., is entirely shut down." –David Letterman

"Here's an important anniversary in the world of comedy. Four years ago today Vice President Dick Cheney was out hunting, and he shot one of his buddies in the face." –David Letterman

"But a lot of people criticized Cheney for not doing the right thing after he shot the guy. But he did what he needed to do. He tied the guy to his roof. And then he drove him back to his house." –David Letterman

"Celebrity birthday. Happy birthday to Sarah Palin, who is 46 years old today. And you know, Sarah Palin, when she goes on a public speaking event, writes notes on her hand. Here's what she has on her hand today for her birthday. Let's check in on this, O.K., 'blow out candles,' 'eat cake,' and 'clean rifle.'" –David Letterman

"This is the worst day of my life," said Melania 12 years ago (pLopLop #7)

President Trump has gone back on his claims that he had no involvement in any payments to Stormy Daniels and now says he repaid his lawyer for the $130,000 used in their hush agreement. "This is the worst day of my life," said Melania 12 years ago. --Seth Meyers
During his interview last night, Rudy Giuliani said if special counsel Robert Mueller's team goes after Ivanka Trump, the whole country will turn on Mueller. “Yeah, can we just drop the Ivanka stuff?” said Nordstrom. --Seth Meyers

You're slowly going from Nixon to Mr. Burns (veto poor, sick children)

"This week, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was a victim of identity theft. Someone stole Mayor Bloomberg's identity. By the time police arrested the thief, he had already passed three ordinances and dedicated a museum." --Conan O'Brien

"Are the kids healthy? Because the news from Washington is ... well, uh, you're going to want to try and keep them that way. This week, everyone who is anyone in DC was talking about the proposed expansion of the so-called SCHIP health care program for low-income children. Congress has voted to expand the program by $35 billion over five years and add 2 to 4 million kids to the program, and is to be paid for with a 61-cent increase in the cigarette tax. So, in summation, the bill takes money from cigarettes and gives it to poor, sick children [on screen: Pres. Bush saying, 'That's why I'm going to veto the bill']. No health care for poor kids? You know, I thought something like that is only done by cartoon villains. You're slowly going from Nixon to Mr. Burns." --Jon Stewart

It's like being a Kardashian husband

"Here's another blow to the Romney campaign. Earlier today, that empty chair endorsed Obama" –David Letterman

"Mitt Romney is doing what he can. He's trying very hard. He wants to unite America, the rich with the wealthy, the poor with the indigent, and the white with the Caucasian." –David Letterman

"The presidential debates begin on Wednesday. Romney has taken two days off to prepare. They're going to have practice debates. They're going to do that for two days, and another full day of spray tanning, and he'll be ready to go." –David Letterman

"These debates are tightly controlled. Each side, Obama and Romney, had to agree to 32 pages of rules. It's like being a Kardashian husband." –David Letterman

Unless you're Mitt Romney, and then it's freefall

"It is high time that the GOP stop trying to appeal to smart people – and letting Rick Santorum in front of a microphone is a great place to start." –Stephen Colbert, on Santorum's remarks that "smart people will never be on our side"

"It's Fall. Unless you're Mitt Romney, and then it's freefall." –David Letterman

"Mitt Romney says that about half the country is freeloaders. And freeloaders – that includes wealthy politicians who only pay 13 percent in tax." –David Letterman

Remember, there is no 'I' in Iowa!'

"New Jersey governor Chris Christie was released from the hospital today. Good news. I guess he had some blockage or something. He told reporters he feels "fabulous." When Michele Bachman's husband heard that, he said, "We have a clinic that can cure you of that! We can fix that." –Jay Leno

"Some big election news. It's rumored that Sarah Palin will announce her presidential campaign at a Labor Day rally in Iowa. Palin has a great speech planned — she's like, 'We have to do this as a team! Remember, there is no 'I' in Iowa!'" –Jimmy Fallon

The Bush Economy, part II (Mary Jane Piss in Your Face Cheese Time)

The Bush Economy, part II (Mary Jane Piss in Your Face Cheese Time)

…march 2008

Consumer Confidence at its lowest level since 2002.

And in the last month or two…

The 4,000th soldier died in Iraq.

Iraq is costing US taxpayers 12 Billion a Month.
$4,000 per second.

Consumers increased their borrowing by 7 Billion in January.

Bush’s recession, more job cuts, banks running out of cash.

Gas prices at an all time high, oil at $110 a barrel.

U.S. Home Foreclosures up 70%.

300,000 homes were in default, and the number
is rising.

Bank seizures were up 123% last month.

The steepest drop in housing value in 40 years.

There will be more than 1 million bank repossessions
by the end of 2008.

Gas prices in 2002, $1.39 a gallon.
Gas prices in 2008, $3.31 a gallon.

I was at the pump two weeks ago,
on a cold Indiana February morning.
A beautiful black woman pulled up
to the opposite pump.

She started filling her car up
and said to me, “I don’t know how people
are going to make it.”

I said, “I know. It’s awful.”

120,000 families filed bankruptcy last month.

100,000 non-farm jobs lost in the last two months.

40,000 construction jobs lost last month.

60,000 manufacturing jobs lost.

30,000 temporary jobs lost.

One half of one million have become so desperate
that they have stopped looking for work.

The only reason people aren’t living
in shanty towns is because they cannot afford
the shanty.
