the capitalists stopped pretending that it doesn't (baby steps)

“On Tuesday, President Trump posted a map on Truth Social labeling the Strait of Hormuz “NEW U.S. Territory.” The White House said, ‘Look, he stopped posting photos of himself as Jesus, so this is baby steps.’” — Jimmy Fallon

“Well, guys, according to a new poll, President Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 33 percent, the lowest level of his presidency. Yeah, I mean, most people like to drop a few for the summer, but this is pretty bad.” — Jimmy Fallon

Stand on each side and see who the strait goes to (the authoritarian psychopaths, or the Iranians)

“A day after Trump said the U.S. has the Strait of Hormuz in total control, Iran now says that they are in control of the strait. OK, there’s only one way to settle this: Stand on each side and see who the strait goes to.” — Jimmy Fallon

“Now, at this point, I don’t know who to believe: the authoritarian psychopaths, or the Iranians?” — Anthony Anderson

Is now a bad time to tell you that there’s algae in the pool again? (or ask Dr. Strange to erase everyone’s memory)

“I read that President Trump has been furious about the Iran war, and he’s been shouting curse words at his top national security officials. Yeah, his staff was like, ‘Is now a bad time to tell you that there’s algae in the pool again?’” — Jimmy Fallon

“Yep, the last time Trump was this angry was when McDonald’s added salads to the menu.” — Jimmy Fallon

“But the White House downplayed the report. They said the president just gets cranky when he misses his all-day naps.” — Jimmy Fallon

“Yeah, officials remain divided over whether they should stop Iran’s nuclear program, protect ships in the Strait of Hormuz, or ask Dr. Strange to erase everyone’s memory.” — Jimmy Fallon

Normally I’d say don’t quit your day job but in this case... (the hoax of Trickle Down economics)

There was a hydration break in the war between US and Iran with a second straight day of peace. President Trump decided to stop bombing the strait of Hormuz and to start bombing at the White House correspondents dinner. —Jon Stewart

The president’s performance at the annual event had been widely criticized for being awkward and unfunny. Normally I’d say don’t quit your day job but in this case … I will make an exception. —Jon Stewart

What if soccer had less soccer? (call off work bestie, we need you to solve a m*rder)

The World Cup final is this Sunday and will now feature a halftime show because somewhere an American consultant asked, "What if soccer had less soccer?” —Joe Mackey

OK, I’m back onboard. Take another trillion (it’s time to start melting down grandma’s gold)

Despite campaigning on a promise of bringing costs down, Trump’s war in Iran has led to the highest rate of inflation in three years. Welcome to Trump’s golden age which means it’s time to start melting down grandma’s gold. —Stephen Colbert

One of the issues hanging over Trump’s “fabulous billionaire boys trip” is the Iran war, which seems at an impasse, with one expert commenting that the conflict will cost US taxpayers $1tn. So what is America getting? Well, less than we were promised because we just learned that Trump has been drastically overstating US military success in Iran. Recent intelligence reports show that Iran has retained about 70% of its pre-conflict missile stockpile and has restored access to 30 of 33 missile sites along the strait of Hormuz amid reports that the Pentagon is considering renaming the war “Operation Sledgehammer”. Operation Sledgehammer, bro? OK, I’m back onboard. Take another trillion. —Stephen Colbert
