or maybe you’re Liam Neeson’s daughter and people keep trying to kidnap you (Seriously, move over)

June 2022

“The Supreme Court today issued several rulings, including one that overturns a New York State gun law restricting concealed weapons. So move over, tourists! Seriously, move over, ’cuz you’re gonna get shot.” —Seth Meyers

“That’s right, the Supreme Court overturned a New York law — a New York State gun law restricting concealed weapons. ’Cuz you know how sometimes you’ll be on the F train in August and there’s no A.C. and then it stops in the middle of the tunnel and the conductor doesn’t announce anything and you think to yourself, ‘Man, I wish we all had guns.’” —Seth Meyers

“Basically, New York had a law for the past 100 years that said if you want to just carry a gun around with you wherever you go, you need to prove that you have a specific reason you need that gun, you know, for your protection. You have to go to the police, you have to tell them, explain the whole thing. Maybe someone is making threats against you, or maybe you’re Liam Neeson’s daughter and people keep trying to kidnap you, even though it seems like it would be way easier to kidnap someone else’s daughter at this point.” —Trevor Noah

Taken 4: Oops, All Kidnappers (because I’m lying right now, we didn’t win)

Tonight was the long-awaited, rescheduled day that Donald Trump announced his fake media awards, the Fakies. And I’m proud to say that at 5:15 today, “The Late Show” won Fakest in Late Night. On behalf of everyone here at “The Late Show” I just want to say thank you, sir. And I would say I’m humbled, but I think we deserve it — in part because I’m lying right now, we didn’t win. --Stephen Colbert
Meanwhile, this is good news: We still have a government for, like, 48 hours, something like that. You see, after the breakdown of DACA negotiations, Congress is hurtling toward a government shutdown. Well, maybe not hurtling. The average age of a U.S. senator is 62, so shambling. --Stephen Colbert
Despite controlling the presidency and both houses of Congress, the GOP needs Democratic votes to keep the government open. The Democrats will only do that if Trump supports DACA, but Trump will only agree to DACA if he gets his border wall. It’s all detailed in the new thriller [pic of Trump and congressional leaders] “Taken 4: Oops, All Kidnappers.” --Stephen Colbert
A magisterial collection.
An emotional roller coaster.
Soon to be a cult classic.
A combination of Bukowski’s
Last Night On Earth
and Orwell’s 1984.

Just tell Liam Neeson that they have his daughter

"This weekend a Native American group gathered outside of the Houston-Washington game to protest the Redskins' nickname. And a group of Cowboys wide receivers gathered outside of the Dallas-San Francisco game because that's where most of Tony Romo's passes were landing." –Seth Meyers

"This week President Obama will announce his plans for addressing the threat posed by ISIS extremists in Iraq. It's an incredibly difficult situation. I think at this point he should just tell Liam Neeson that they have his daughter." –Seth Meyers
